On The Road Again

Surprise! I'm back in Pasadena.

Monday I got a phone call asking me to drive to Pasadena for a meeting Tuesday morning. There is no way to make it from San Diego to Pasadena for an 8 a.m. meeting. Actually, there probably is a way but it would involve getting on the road at 3 a.m. So it's more accurate to say there's no way for me to make the trip; I like my sleep too much. I need to drive in the night before the meeting.

I noticed that in the next few weeks the start time of the Saturday TNT training sessions changes from a nutty 7 a.m. to a completely insane 6:30 a.m. I've never missed a training session to sleep in, but I think a 6:30 start time may be my breaking point. I just don't see me getting into my car to drive to training at 6.

Today's drive was on a much more acceptable schedule. I had to work all day today so I didn't get on the road until 8 p.m. Actually, that's better than leaving earlier because I avoided Los Angeles traffic. Last week the last 20 miles of the drive were in L.A. rush hour - that 20 miles took as long as the first 90 miles. GRRR! Tonight the drive was pretty relaxing and my incredibly patient mom kept me company on the phone - of course, she's on the East Coast so she stayed up until nearly 1 a.m EDT chatting with me. She won't be getting up early either.

Arrived in Pasadena, checked in, hopped into the resort's hot tub for a few minutes, ordered a fabulous dessert for dinner and ate half. (If you want to drool this is what I had - Candied Apple and Croissant Bread Pudding with Cognac Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce. Wow!) Tomorrow the plan is get up, check out, go to the meeting for 3 hours, immediately drive back to San Diego and hopefully arrive in time for my physical therapy appointment.

What's missing? What's missing? Oh, yes. My workout. That's the bugger of being on the road - there's no time to squeeze in a workout. In fact, there's not time to squeeze in anything - I'd have liked to have visited Carrie or Linda, but a 13 trip doesn't allow for that.
